The Charles Allen for Ward 6 campaign has filed its March 10th Finance Report of Receipts and Expenditures with the DC Office of Campaign Finance showing $130,278 in contributions since Allen announced his candidacy in mid-October.

Allen reported contributions from 672 individual donors since his campaign began – the overwhelming majority are local residents. For this current reporting period, 85% are Ward 6 residents and 97% are DC residents. Allen’s campaign has pledged to accept donations only from individuals, taking no special interest, PAC, or LLC funds. Clean Slate Now, a national good government and campaign finance reform advocacy organization, has recognized Allen’s campaign for DC Council.

“As yesterday’s scene at the U.S. District Court showed all too well, good government starts with clean campaigns. I’m proud to raise the bar and refuse to accept the kind of pay-to-play politics that has put this cloud over our city,” said Allen.

Campaign Chair Laura Marks praised the campaign’s report, saying, “Over three-quarters of our donations come from Ward 6 residents, and 90% are from DC residents, showing strong grassroots support for Charles Allen. With over $80,000 cash on hand, we’re in a great position to finish strong and win on April 1st.”
