Charles Allen For Ward 6 Reports Over $80,000 In Contributions; 411 Individual Donors Contribute
(Washington, DC) -- Last night, Charles Allen for Ward 6 filed its December 10th Finance Report of Receipts and Expenditures with the DC Office of Campaign Finance showing $80,335 in contributions since Allen announced his candidacy in mid-October.
Allen reported contributions from 411 individual donors, with 77% of the total funds coming from Ward 6 residents, and 89% coming from DC residents.
Allen’s campaign has pledged to accept donations only from individuals, taking no special interest, PAC, or LLC funds. Clean Slate Now, a national good government and campaign finance reform advocacy organization, recognized and recommended Allen’s campaign for DC Council this week.
“I am incredibly proud of the strong support for my campaign shown by donors across Ward 6. I am honored to have hundreds of my Ward 6 friends and neighbors stand with me as we work together for better schools, age-friendly neighborhoods, a vibrant small business community, and an end to DC’s pay-to-play politics,” said Allen.
Campaign Chair Laura Marks praised the campaign’s accomplishment, saying, “We did this the hard way, but it’s the right way. Every candidate for public office in DC should make the same pledge Charles has made to have a name and face go with every donation. DC voters want and deserve that kind of accountability.”
Allen said, “Our filing today shows we have broad-based grassroots support and the momentum we need to build a winning campaign. With 77% of our donations coming from Ward 6, it’s clear voters here are excited about this race and my candidacy to be their next Councilmember.”
